FC Groningen may be on the verge of losing one of its biggest talents. Robin Kelder, a 21-year-old midfielder, could sign a contract with Al-Fateh in the Saudi Pro League.

What happened?

Kelder has not yet made his debut for FC Groningen in the Eredivisie, but has already signed a contract until the summer of 2027 with a club option for another year. He has also regularly trained with the first team of FC Groningen.

Why is this important for FC Groningen?

The interest of Al-Fateh in Kelder is not surprising, since he was born in the Saudi city of Dhahran. This means that he does not count as a foreign player and that Al-Fateh can therefore sign him without any problems.

What comes next?

An agreement must still be reached between FC Groningen and Al-Fateh on a transfer fee. FC Groningen can ask for a decent amount for their young player.
