FC Groningen has strengthened its squad for the upcoming season by signing three new players and promoting three U-17 players to the first team. River Waterham, Hanna Stallmann and Lisanne Dik join from Heerenveen. Waterham, 18, can play as both left and right back. Stallmann, 19, is an attacking midfielder who also played for PEC Zwolle, where she made her debut in the Eredivisie. Dik, 25, is an attacking midfielder who was captain of ACV last season and played for Heerenveen previously. FC Groningen had earlier announced that Nonna de Vries, Izaline Tahapary and Alyssia Hoefnagel would be promoted from the U-17 team to the first team. The first team, led by head coach Atty Eelkema, will start the upcoming season in the second division, just like last season. FC Groningen had promoted to the first division in the autumn competition, but dropped back down in the spring competition.
